Christians believe in the bible doctrines as Muslim believe in the teachings of the Quran. Hence as Christians, we need the bible as our guider. In view of this, there is a need to raise leaders to teach these biblical doctrines in this regard.
In most of the churches, professionally any Christian who wants to be a leader needs to be trained. And there are various bible schools across the country that are readily accepting such people into their institutions provided they meet their requirements.
Therefore, Bible school is a Christian institution which trains or prepares students for the Christian ministry with biblical doctrines, theoretical education and practical ministry training. It is sometimes known as Theoretical Institute or Bible Institution or Pastoral School.
Requirements For Entering Bible Schools In Ghana
Generally, the requirements for entering these bible schools differ from one school to the other. It all depends on the kind of certificate you would want to attain at the end of the course.
Most of the denominational churches would want their leaders to attain post graduate studies in a Theoretical Institute before they could be allowed to practice the Christian teachings.

While others would want them to attain any level in theoretical education before that responsibility could be given to them.
Certificate requirements
- Most Bible schools require applicants to hold BECE certificate.
Diploma requirements
Requirement for one year or two years diploma studies in theology
- Applicant must possess a SSCE/WASCCE or its equivalent
- Applicant with lower certificate will write entrance exams
Degree requirements
- Applicant must possess or have a good SSCE/WASSCE certificate and an applicant who read Biblically related courses are more advantageous.
Post graduate requirements
- Applicants must have possessed or hold a degree in an accredited University and applicant who read Biblical related programmes are more advantageous.
Certificates are awarded in the various Bible schools based on the level you have attained. Some Bible schools award or offer certificates and diploma while others awards offer degree, master’s degree and even at the PHD level. Like any accredited tertiary institutions, Bible schools also run various courses of its type per semester and also across the academic year.
