Wolfgang Petry is a German schlager musician and songwriter. He was born in the Cologne neighborhood of Raderthal on September 22, 1951.
Even though much information isn’t available about his parents, it has been established that his father died when he was only 16 years. As a result of that, he had to take care of his younger brother.
He had some sort of education and earned a vocational degree in Precision Mechanics at a time he was still touring with his band in Cologne and its environs.
In the absence of his father, Wolfgang Petry re-recorded some of his father’s songs. It is interesting to note that in 1997, Wolfgang Petry was named the leading German language musician in terms of chart figures for the year with his album titled Alles.
It is emphatic and impressive to note that for the Echo Awards in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001, Wolfgang Petry won the “Best Folk/Pop Artist” National/International” award.
For eight different years, Wolfgang Petry has won the award for Most Successful German solo pop act at the Goldene Stimmgabel Awards. He won the award in 1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2005.
In 1998 as well as 2006, he also won the “Platinum Life Award” during the same Goldene Stimmgabel awards.
It is important to note that Wolfgang Petry changed his name to Pete Wolf and then released his Happy Man album on October 27, 2017.
He married Rosemarie Remling in 1972 and they had a son called Achim Petry two years later.
