The lowest moment in my career was 2008 AFCON against Namibia – Asamoah Gyan

Asamoah Gyan, Ghana Black Stars former captain has disclosed his lowest moment in his career on the day show with Berla Mundi.

Asamoah Gyan is currently Ghana’s top goal scorer and arguably the biggest footballer in the country at the moment. He has chalked many successes for the country and himself and of course has been under heavy criticism especially from 2010 when he missed a penalty at the world cup against Uraguay. Had Asamoah Gyan scored the penalty Ghana would have progressed to the semi-final stage of the tournament so it was a very painful moment for Ghana as Asamoah Gyan missed that penalty.

To the surprise of many, Asamoah Gyan does not name that moment as the lowest in his career but rather the Africcan Cup of Nations (AFCON) hosted in Ghana in 2008, the match against Namibia. Asamoah Gyan recounted that Ghanaians thought the blackstarts would score many goals against Namibia as they were statistically better than them.He missed a great opportunity at an acute angle and hit the ball over the bar.

Even though Ghana won the match Asamoah Gyan was heavily criticized and he has recorded that as the lowest moment in his career.
