Entering the Broadway theater scene in 1945, Cummings played Susan Peters in the critically acclaimed “Carousel,” demonstrating her aptitude and adaptability on stage.

Cummings adorned small and large screens with her presence during the late 1950s and early 1960s. During the 1958โ€“59 season of the syndicated Western television series “Union Pacific,” she played Georgia, the proprietress of the Golden Nugget Saloon, in one of her notable appearances.
