Who Is Richard Thomas? 

Richard Earl Thomas is a veteran American actor born on June 13, 1951, in Manhattan, New York. He was born to renowned ballet dancers in New York who also owned the New York School of Ballet.

However, instead of following the path of his parents in ballet dancing, Thomas was drawn to acting. By the time he was seven, he had already kicked off his acting career and has been doing that to date.

Although his acting potential was identified very early, his parents still made sure that he attended school. He started at a private all-boys school in New York City called Allen-Stevenson School. From there, he attended another private school known as McBurney School which is no longer in existence as we speak.

After his high school education, Thomas attended Columbia University to study Chinese but later switched to English. However, he later dropped out of school in his junior year to focus on his acting career.

His first acting role as mentioned earlier was at the age of 7 in 1958 in “Sunrise at Campobello” and has so far done over seventy films and TV series as of 2023. He gained wide recognition for his role in the CBS drama series “The Waltons” as John-Boy Walton from 1972 to 1977.

He performed his role so well that he received two Golden Globe Award nominations and won an Emmy Award. In addition to acting in The Waltons, he also directed 5 episodes of the series.
