Nico Rosberg was born on June 27, 1985, in Wiesbaden, West Germany, to Finnish racecar racer Keke Rosberg and German interpreter Sina Rosberg. He grew up mostly in the principality of Monaco.
Rosberg began racing at six in go-karts and swiftly rose to prominence, winning regional and national championships. He later switched to car racing, winning the 2002 Formula BMW ADAC Championship. He proceeded to the Formula 3 Euro Series before winning the inaugural GP2 Series championship 2005.
Rosberg debuted in Formula One with the Williams team in 2006, finishing on the podium twice. He joined Mercedes in 2010 and partnered with seven-time world winner Michael Schumacher.
Rosberg won his maiden professional race at the 2012 Chinese Grand Prix and went on to be Lewis Hamilton’s teammate from 2013 to 2016. In his final season, he overcame Hamilton and won the 2016 World Drivers’ Championship.
After winning the title, Rosberg announced his retirement from motor racing, claiming a desire to spend more time with his family and avoid losing his driving abilities.
Since retirement, he has become an entrepreneur and eco-entrepreneur, investing in and advocating for sustainability and electric vehicles.
