Mac Miller was an American rapper and record producer. He was born on January 19, 1992, and he is known to have started his music career in Pittsburgh’s local hip-hop scene in 2007.
He was then fifteen years old. Three years later, he signed a record deal with independent label Rostrum Records. While signed to Rostrum Records, Mac Miller released his breakthrough mixtapes K.I.D.S. (2010) and Best Day Ever (2011).
The debut studio album of Mac Miller, Blue Slide Park (2011) was released and it became the first independently distributed debut album to top the US Billboard 200 since 1995.
In 2013, Mac Miller founded the record label known as imprint REMember Music. After releasing Watching Movies with the Sound Off (2013) which was her second studio album, he left Rostrum Records. Subsequently, he signed onto Warner Bros. Records in 2014 and released albums such as GO:OD AM (2015), The Divine Feminine (2016), Swimming (2018), and the posthumous Circles (2020). Swimming (2018)was posthumously nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album.
Mac Miller Cause of Death
Mac Miller was found lifeless in his Studio City home by his personal assistant. This was on September 7, 2018.
His assistant performed CPR until paramedics arrived but he was pronounced dead at 11;51am. Prior to his death, he had been scheduled to shoot a music video and also to embark on his Swimming Tour in October.
He named his mother, father, and brother as beneficiaries in his Will. Mac Miller was buried at Homewood Cemetery in his hometown of Pittsburgh, in a Jewish funeral. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office on Los Angeles County Coroner’s office confirmed that Mac Miller died from an accidental drug overdose due to a “mixed drug toxicity” of fentanyl, cocaine, and alcohol.
A vigil at Pittsburgh’s Blue Slide Park on September 11, 2018, was held for Mac Miller. There was also a tribute concert, Mac Miller: A Celebration of Life, which took place on October 31, 2018, at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.
The Mac Miller Circles Fund was also set up and benefited from the proceeds of the tribute concert. Three men were arrested in connection with the death of Mac Miller.
They were Cameron James Pettit, Ryan Reavis and Stephen Walter and their crime was selling counterfeit oxycodone pills containing fentanyl to Mac Miller two days before he died.
The three men were indicted on charges of conspiracy and distribution of drugs resulting in death.
On April 18, 2022, Reavis was sentenced to ten years in prison for his role in distributing the pills. On May 17, 2022, Walter was sentenced to 17+1⁄2 years in prison for his role.
Three men were arrested in September 2019 during an investigation into Miller’s death. Cameron James Pettit allegedly sold Miller counterfeit oxycodone pills containing fentanyl two days before his death, which were run to Pettit by Ryan Reavis and supplied by Stephen Walter.
Miller had asked Pettit for Percocet, a prescribed painkiller containing oxycodone, in addition to cocaine and Xanax. Investigators believe Miller snorted the laced pills before his death.
The three men were indicted on charges of conspiracy and distribution of drugs resulting in death.[122]
On April 18, 2022, Reavis was sentenced to ten years in prison for his role in distributing the pills.[123] On May 17, 2022, Walter was sentenced to 17+1⁄2 years in prison for his role.[105]
