Georg Amft’s Biography, Wikipedia
Georg Amft can be described as a German composer and music teacher. Georg Amft was born on January 25, 1873, in Oberhannsdorf, Glatz district, Province of Silesia but died on March 9, 1937. As a German composer and music teacher, he is said to have a lot of Masses, hymns and instrumental music as compositions to his credit.
It must be noted that scientific work in the field of folk song and local research in the county of Glatz won him some importance. Georg Amft was born to an organist and choir director. With respect to education, he attended the Royal Preparation Institute in Bad Landeck.
He also attended the teachers’ seminar in Habelschwerdt from 1890 to 1893. Georg Amft served in an assistant teaching position at Trachenberg. Later in 1896, he served as a teacher in Potsdam. Georg Amft also attended the University of School and Church Music in Berlin-Charlottenburg.
He was given the title “Royal Music Director” in 1911 after he had worked on “Folk Songs from the County of Glatz”. He went for military service in 1914 and served as a music teacher at the teachers’ college in Bromberg two years afterwards. His return to the Habelschwerdt teachers’ college did not last as it was collapsed in 1927.
At the time of his retirement, Georg Amft stayed in Bad Altheide.
