Felix Manuel Lobrecht was born on December 24, 1988, in Mettingen, Germany. He is a stand-up comedian, podcast host, and author. He has gained notoriety for his distinct storytelling style and comedic abilities.
Early Life and Education
Tragically, in 1993, Felix Lobrecht’s mother died of breast cancer. North Rhine-Westphalia’s Mettingen is the place of his birth. Growing up in the Gropiusstadt area of Neukölln, Lobrecht faced the challenges of puberty and education in a harsh environment.
He attended the Hannah-Arendt-Gymnasium in the Neukölln district of Rudow, but his unusual behavior resulted in his expulsion in 2003. In 2005, he continued his education at the Clay Comprehensive School and earned his secondary school leaving certificate.
Following that, he worked at a fitness center and a wholesaler of plants until he obtained his technical college admission credential in 2008. Despite obstacles, he persisted in his education and obtained his general university entrance qualification in 2012. Lobrecht first attended many universities to study economics and political science before deciding to enroll in Humboldt University’s social sciences program in Berlin.
Career
Ten years before he gained widespread recognition, Lobrecht’s artistic career began with small breakdance concerts in Berlin. He began performing stand-up comedy in 2015 and has since been well-known for it. He often employs his distinct Berlin accent to captivate audiences with absurd stories, awful jokes, and purposeful pauses.
He gained greater notoriety in 2016 thanks to his appearances on Comedy Champions 2016 on RTL-II and Cologne Comedy Night XXL. Lobrecht began his first live tour, dubbed “kenn ick,” in 2020 to highlight his unique amusing approach. He participated in several humorous events, including 1LIVE lecture hall comedy and Dieter Nuhr’s “Nuhr from 18”.
Co-writing the book “10 minutes?,” Lobrecht showed his ability as an artist. “20 marks!” in 2015 and publishing “Sun and Concrete,” his second novel, in 2017. His boyhood in Berlin-Neukölln and Gropiusstadt served as the inspiration for the latter, which was turned into a movie and shown at the Berlinale in February 2023.
Lobrecht has been co-hosting the popular weekly podcast “Misches Hack” with Tommi Schmitt since September 2017. As of September 2019, the show will only be available on Spotify. 2019 saw him and Schmitt work together again on the 1LIVE comedic format “What are things doing?” In addition, Lobrecht participated in several life hack tasks on the 1LIVE program “How to Do section?” between October 2019 and September 2021.
On September 29, 2023, he received the German Comedy Prize in the category “Most Successful Live Program” for his tour “all you can eat,” capping off a successful year in comedy.
