Davidson rose to fame thanks to her parts in various soap operas. She played Kristen DiMera and Susan Banks on NBC’s “Days of Our Lives,” as well as Ashley Abbott on CBS’s “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful.”

For her role as Kristen DiMera on “Days of Our Lives,” Davidson won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2014.

She became the second actress to receive this honour in the soap opera’s “Lead Actress” category. Later, she received the honour once more in 2018 for her performance on “The Young and the Restless.”

Davidson has had roles outside of soap operas in both movies and television productions. She played the lead in the CBS crime drama “Broken Badges” (1990–1991) as well as the horror movie “The House on Sorority Row” (1983). In the 2000s, she also dabbled in writing and produced a number of mystery books.

In order to further her television career, Davidson joined the cast of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” on Bravo in 2014. She continued to appear on the programme regularly until 2017.

Davidson was brought up as a Roman Catholic and went to St. Paul High School in Santa Fe Springs, California, throughout her early years.

In 1982, she made her acting debut on “The Young and the Restless” where she created the character of Ashley Abbott. The portrayal of Ashley by Davidson was favourably praised, and the character eventually played a key role in the programme.

When Davidson left “The Young and the Restless” in 1988, she suggested Brenda Epperson, a lookalike actress, be cast as Ashley Abbott.

After that, Davidson had appearances in a number of films and TV shows before making a comeback to daytime TV in the role of Kelly Capwell on “Santa Barbara” from 1991 to 1993.

As Kristen Blake, Davidson joined the cast of “Days of Our Lives” in 1993. Under James E. Reilly’s pen, her persona changed from a strong heroine to a nuanced villain. She played several characters, including Susan Banks, who resembled Kristen, Sister Mary Moira, Thomas, and Penelope.

She was nominated for an Outstanding Lead Actress Daytime Emmy in 1998 as a result of her performances.

After taking a year off from acting, Davidson made a comeback to “The Young and the Restless” in 1999, playing Ashley Abbott once more.

During her spectacular comeback, she earned her second Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress. She was, however, removed from the show in 2006 owing to a lack of plot.

In an unexpected change of events, Davidson agreed to a three-year deal with “The Bold and the Beautiful” in 2007 to reprise her role as Ashley Abbott at the executive producer’s request.
