Adrian Mititelu was born on March 15, 1968. He was born in Booveni, Drănic, Dolj, Romania and he is noted to be the patron of the football club known as U Craiova 1948. FC U Craiova 1948 is commercially referred to as FC Universitatea 1948 and it has its origin from Craiova, Romania.
FC U Craiova, as a football team, currently plays in the Romanian SuperLiga and it is said to have been founded in 2017. The football team was promoted to the Romanian SuperLiga at the end of the 2020/2021 football season.
Apart from owning FC U Craiova 1948, Adrian Mititelu is known to be the owner of the newspaper Ediție speciale de Oltenia from Craiova. He established the newspaper in 2001 and it is the main regional newspaper from Craiova, Oltenia, Romania.
Quite unfortunately, Adrian Mititelu, who doubles as the owner of FC U Craiova 1948 as well as Ediție speciale de Oltenia, was sued by DIICOT. The main reason given by DIICOT for bringing the legal issue against Adrian Mititelu was that he had committed the crime of forming an organized criminal group.
He was also accused of evading tax and exercising bad faith in the use of company assets. Adrian Mititelu was also said to be involved in money laundering.
The accusations against Adrian Mititelu were leveled in 2014 but later in 2021, he could not be convicted and this was due to the fact that the facts of the case were deemed to have expired by the Craiova Court of Appeal.
However , on July 25, 2016, Adrian Mititelu was accused of tax evasion and fraud by the National Anticorruption Directorate and on November 5, 2020, the Craiova Court of Appeal sentenced him definitively to 3 years in prison with enforcement in this case.
After serving 20 months of his 3-year sentence, Adrian Mititelu was released from prison based on the decision taken by the Craiova Court of Appeal.
