Umberto II di Savoia was born on September 15, 1904 in Geneva . He was the Prince of Piedmont from 1904 to 1946. Umberto II di Savoia was also the Lieutenant General of the Kingdom of Italy between June 5, 1944, and May 9, 1946.

Umberto II di Savoia was born to Victor Emmanuel III and Elena of Montenegro. He has four sisters and they were Iolanda, Mafalda, Giovanna and Maria Francesca.

Umberto II di Savoia had to undergo a series of invasive surgical operations beginning from 1964.
She had to undergo the surgeries because she had been diagnosed with a tumor. It was the tumor that eventually caused her death on March 18, 1983, in Geneva.
She died in a clinic she was transferred to from London.
