It must be noted that Thomas Lebherz won the gold medal in the 4 x 100-meter medley at the European Championship in 1985 . The 1985 European Championship was staged in Sofia. Thomas Lebherz also represented Germany at the 1976 European Youth Championships in Oslo.
He participated in the 100-meter and 200-meter backstroke and won bronze medals. Thomas Lebherz also participated in the 1978 European Youth Championships in Florence when he took home several silver and bronze medals.
