The real name of Simone Signoret was Simone Henriette Charlotte Kaminker. Simone Signoret was born on March 25, 1921, and her parents were Georgette and André Kaminker. She was a French actress. She was the eldest of three children; she had two younger brothers.
The father of Simone Signoret was a pioneering interpreter who worked in the League of Nations whereas Georgette was a French Catholic. Simone Signoret grew up in Paris and had studies in English, German and Latin. She had to support her family after completing secondary school during the Nazi occupation.
She worked as a typist for a French collaborationist newspaper, Les nouveaux temps, which was run by Jean Luchaire. Simone Signoret got married to filmmaker Yves Allégret between 1944 and 1949. They had a daughter called Catherine Allégret.
She is also an actress. After divorcing filmmaker Yves Allégret, she married Italian-born French actor Yves Montand in 1951. Unfortunately, they did not have any children.
In 1942, she played roles in movies such as Bolero, Prince Charming, Les Visiteurs du Soir and The Benefactor. A year later, she was featured in Strange Inheritance as well as Goodbye Leonard. Movies such as The Angel of the Night, Behold Beatrice, Night Shift and Le mort ne recoit plus followed in 1944 and in 1945, she played a role in Box of Dreams.
Between 1946 and 1985, she played varying roles in many movies. Other movies to her credit include The Ideal Couple, Back Streets of Paris, Against The Winds, Dilemma of Two Angels, Swiss Tour, La Ronde, Gunman in the Streets and Shadow and Light.
Simone Signoret Cause Of Death
Simone Signoret died on September 30, 1985. The cause of her death was pancreatic cancer.
She died in Autheuil-Authouillet, France and at the time of her death, she was 64 years old.
Simone Signoret was buried in Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris and Yves Montand was later buried next to her.
Awards
Over the years that Simone Signoret was an actress, she won some awards. Her awards include an Academy Award, three BAFTA Awards, a César Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, and the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress, in addition to nominations for two Golden Globe Awards.
