Simon Ammann can be said to be one of the most successful athletes in the history of ski jumping. He was born on June 25, 1981, and over the years, he has been able to win four individual Winter Olympic gold medals. He won these awards in 2002 and 2010.
He also has the 2007 Ski Jumping World Championships, the 2010 Ski Flying World Championships, the 2010 Nordic Tournament, and the 2010 Ski Jumping World Cup overall title to his credit. Simon Ammann’s debut so far as ski jumping is concerned was during the 1997–98 FIS Ski Jumping World Cup season.
He was then just 16 years old. He also made it to the 1998 Olympic Games in Nagano, Japan, but he placed 35th. Quite unfortunately, just before the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Simon Ammann suffered a crash and sustained some injuries.
Regardless, he managed to win Simon Ammann a gold medal in both the individual normal hill and large hill competitions. Due to his youthful and bespectacled appearance, many people compared him to Harry Potter. He made an appearance on an American talk show, Late Show with David Letterman.
He was the proud winner at the ski jumping event at the Holmenkollen Ski Festival in 2002 and 2007. Simon Ammann won the Holmenkollen medal in 2007 and he made his third Olympic appearance in 2006 in Turin, Italy.
Simon Ammann won his first medal on February 24, 2007, at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships. The following week, he also won a silver medal in the Individual Normal Hill and finally, he annexed a bronze medal in the Individual Normal Hill event at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 in Liberec, Czech Republic.
He won all four events at the Nordic Tournament and nine World Cup events in one season overall to become the overall winner of the 2009–10 FIS Ski Jumping World Cup.

Simon Ammann was born in Grabs, Switzerland and his parents are Margit and Heinrich Ammann. He is known to have brothers and three sisters. Simon Ammann got married to Yana Yanovskaya in 2010. He is said to have just one child called Théodore Ammann.
