Robert Downey Jr. Illness: Full Details

Robert Downey Jr is an American actor who was born on April 4, 1965. Quite unfortunately, his career was affected by legal issues as well as substance abuse. Robert Downey Jr made his debut with respect to film when he starred in his father Robert Downey Sr.’s film Pound in 1970.

He was just five years old at that time and subsequently featured in films such as Weird Science (1985) and Less than Zero (1987). Robert Downey Jr was born in Manhattan, New York City and he has an older sibling called Allyson.

His parents are Robert Downey Sr., was an actor and filmmaker, and Elsie Ann (née Ford), an actress. When he was a kid, Robert Downey Jr, he was surrounded by drugs and he was allowed to use drugs as his father was a drug addict.

He first used marijuana when he was just six years old. He was also abusing alcohol. Concerning education, Robert Downey Jr attended the Stagedoor Manor Performing Arts Training Center in upstate New York as a teenager. He dropped out of Santa Monica High School and decided to pursue acting on full-time basis.

It must be noted that he was nominated for the  Academy Award for Best Actor for the role he played in the biopic Chaplin in 1992. He also won a  BAFTA Award. He was part of the cast for the TV series Ally McBeal, and that came about after his visit to the Corcoran Substance Abuse Treatment Facility on drug charges.

For the role he played in the TV series Ally McBealt, he won a Golden Globe Award. However, due to his involvement with drugs and his drug charges, he was sacked from the TV series Ally McBealt in 2000 and 2001.

Some of the films Robert Downey Jr has been involved with include the 2003 film The Singing Detective, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005), Zodiac (2007) and Tropic Thunder (2008). He also featured in ten films within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Some of these films are Iron Man (2008) and Avengers: Endgame (2019).

Apart from the alcohol and substance abuse, Robert Downey Jr is said to have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. This was confirmed by his stepmother called Rosemary.
