Olaf Scholz can described as a German politician. He was born on June 14, 1958, and he has been serving as Chancellor of Germany for some years now. He became the Chancellor of Germany on December 8, 2021, and it must be noted that he is a member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD).
He used to the the Vice Chancellor in the 4th Merkel cabinet. He was also the Federal Minister of Finance from 2018 to 2021. Between 2011 and 2018, Olaf Scholz was the first Mayor of Hamburg and the deputy leader of the SPD between 2009 and 2019.
Olaf Scholz has a lot of experience in politics and was also the Federal Minister of Labour and Social Affairs from 2007 to 2009. It is interesting to know that Olaf Scholz is a trained lawyer with a specialization in labor and employment law.
He has been a member of the SPD since the 1970s and has also occupied a seat at the Bundestag from 1998 to 2011. He served under First Mayor Ortwin Runde in 2001 in the Hamburg Government and became General Secretary of the SPD a year later.
Olaf Scholz assumed the role of the SPD’s chief whip in the Bundestag. Olaf Scholz led the SPD in the 2011 Hamburg state election and became First Mayor.
Personal Details
Olaf Scholz was born in Osnabrück, Lower Saxony. He grew up in Hamburg’s Rahlstedt district. and it needs to be emphasized that his parents were workers in the textile industry. Olaf Scholz has Jens Scholz and Ingo Scholz as his siblings.
Jens Scholz is an anesthesiologist and he also has the position of CEO of the University Medical Center Schleswig Holstein.Ingo Scholz is a tech entrepreneur.Olaf Scholz had his education at the Bekassinenau Elementary School in Oldenfelde.
Subsequently, he moved to the Großlohering elementary school in Großlohe. He completed High school in 1977 and a year later, he commenced studying law at the University of Hamburg. As a lawyer, he worked with Zimmermann, Scholz und Partner.
Marriage
Olaf Scholz is married to fellow SPD politician Britta Ernst and they live in Potsdam. They were initially staying in Hamburg’s Altona district but they moved to Potsdam in 2018. Olaf Scholz was raised in the Protestant Church in Germany but he subsequently left.
Based on this, during his inauguration as chancellor in 2021, he did not make reference to God when the oath of office was administered to him.
