Michael “Micky” Beisenherz was born in Recklinghausen, Germany, on June 28, 1977. He has carved out a lucrative and varied career for himself in the German entertainment business. He grew up in Castrop-Rauxel-Henrichenburg, where his uncle Johannes Beisenherz was the mayor, therefore he was surrounded by family with ties to the community. Growing up in a plumbing-related family, Beisenherz completed his Abitur at Castrop-Rauxel’s Adalbert-Stifter-Gymnasium in 1997.

Education and Career

Following a year-long spell studying social sciences at Ruhr University in Bochum, Beisenherz decided to change careers and spent a year working in construction. His journey into the realm of media began with an internship at the local station Radio Herne 90acht, bringing him to Radio NRW.

Beisenherz was an editor at some radio stations, notably Radio NRW, before going into television. When he co-hosted the Love Parade shown on RTL II in 2007 and 2008, his career on television took off. As co-host of the game program “The Great German… Test” with Sonja Zietlow from 2010 to 2012, he kept up his popularity.

Beyond his role as a host, Beisenherz co-wrote the script for Jens Oliver Haas’ RTL series “I’m a Star – Get Me Out of Here!” Showing off his flexibility even further, he moderated shows like “German Angst” and “The Most Annoying Germans.”

Since 2017, Beisenherz and Oliver Polak have been a popular podcasting team. Together, they have hosted a series for Audible members, which they later continued freely on all platforms under the moniker “Friendly Fire.” Furthermore, from 2020, he has served as the moderator of the news podcast “Apokalypse & Filterkaffee,” which in 2022 was one of the most popular German-language podcasts.

In addition to being a well-known actor, Beisenherz is a prolific writer. He has regularly contributed columns and stories exhibiting his wit and insights to journals like as Die Zeit, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Stern, and others.

Beisenherz has been a regular co-host, along with Susan Link, on the WDR television talk show “Kölner Treff” since 2017. He also hosted the satirical talk show “Artikel 5” on MagentaTV from 2019 to 2020. Since February 2020, he has been the host of the talk show “Timeline,” later rebranded as “#beisenherz,” on n-tv.
