Martina Voss-Tecklenburg can be described as a German football coach and former player. She was born on December 22, 1967, in Duisburg and she has served in the capacity of national coach of the Women’s National soccer team since 2018.
As a player, Martina Voss-Tecklenburg first played for DJK Losort Meiderich in 1921. It must be noted that she played up to the D-youth level and subsequently made a move to KBC Duisburg.
She won the Women’s DFB Cup with KBC Duisburg when she was 15 years old in 1983. She also won her first German championship in 1985. She also played for TSV Siegen and FCR Duisburg and in all, she was able to win the German championship six times. The most recent was with FCR Duisburg in 2000.
She has also won the DFB Cup four times. Martina Voss-Tecklenburg was in 1996 became the First Footballer of the Year elected in Germany. Later in 2000, she won the award again. She brought her career to an end in 2003 during the DFB Cup final against FF. Frankfurt.
Martina Voss-Tecklenburg Daughter
She is known to have a daughter called Diana Voss. She is more of a celebrity kid even though much is not known about her.
The identity of her father is currently unknown.
National Team
Martina Voss-Tecklenburg played for the German national team and was involved in 125 international matches for the team. She was part of the team that placed runners-up in the 1995 World Cup.
She also won the European Championship with the team in 1989, 1991, 1995 and 1997 as a player. She was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf. Her career so far as the National team was concerned came to an end before the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. This was due to an argument she had with her then partner and teammate Inka Grings.
Martina Voss-Tecklenburg served as the team manager of SV Straelen and her main responsibility was to be an association sports instructor.
She was responsible for looking after the female selection teams in the Lower Rhine Region. She became the coach of FCR 2001 Duisburg on February 12, 2008. She was placed on leave on February 17, 2011.
Martina Voss-Tecklenburg signed a deal for a year with FFUSV Jena on June 11, 2011, but even before the one year, she terminated the contract. She did this on January 29, 2012. She took over as coach of the Swiss women’s national team on February 5, 2012. She also took over the Credit Suisse Academy on August 1, 2012.
She succeeded Beatrice vin Siebenthal. For the first time, Martina Voss-Tecklenburg led the Swiss team to the Women’s World Cup.
Later on April 26, 2018, it was announced by the German Football Association that Martina Voss-Tecklenburg would be named national coach of the German women’s national team.
Martina Voss-Tecklenburg was officially unveiled as the new National team coach on November 30, 2018. Her first match was on February 28, 2019, against France and she won that game. The team was however eliminated in the quarter-finals of the World Cup.
Before then, the team had won all its three group games and a round of 16 even without conceding a goal. The team also won all its games and conceded only one goal in its qualification for the European Championship in 2021. Her contract was extended until August 2023. Her contract was again extended until 2025
