Martin Reichert was a German journalist and author who was born on February 21, 1973, in Wittlich. He was an editor at the Berlin daily newspaper Taz. While at the Berlin Daily newspaper Taz, he dealt with social issues, sexuality, zeitgeist and gender issues.
He also focused on issues that had to do with LGBT. Martin Reichert studied history, English and European ethnology in school. He regularly published articles in the Berlin Victory Column, the magazine Herren and Du & Ich.
Martin Reichert was the one who managed the magazine of the Heinrich Böll Foundation, Böll.Thema. He was awarded the Felix Rexhausen Prize in 2006 about gay and lesbian life in Beirut.
From February 1, 2023, he worked in the cultural department at Spiege.
When I Grow Up: The Life Stage Book for the Shoulder Bag Generation, which was the first work of Martin Reichert as an author was published in 2008.
This was followed by Landlust and in 2012 Treat Yourself! – all were published by S. Fischer Verlag. In June 2018, Suhrkamp Verlag also published The Capsule – AIDS in the Federal Republic.
Reichert spent the latter part of life in Berlin-Neukölln even though his second home was the Slovenian Adriatic coast where his husband Boštjan came from.
Martin Reichert Cause of Death
Martin Reichert died on May 26, 2023, in Berlin. He died at the age of 50. The cause of his death was suicide. He committed suicide. Martin Reichert was in the St. Matthäus Cemetery in Berlin-Schöneberg.
Honors
Some of the honors to the credit of Martin Reichert are the 2006: Felix Rexhausen Prize (for his article “ Adieu, Habibi! ”) and the 2018: Media Prize HIV/AIDS (for his book “The Capsule. AIDS in the Federal Republic”)
