Keke’s Formula One career got off to a late start, with his debut coming at the age of 29 after racing in several “feeder” series.
He drew the attention of the Formula One paddock with his outstanding performance in the non-championship BRDC International Trophy at Silverstone in 1978, when he won. He later raced for teams including ATS, Theodore, Wolf, and Fittipaldi before joining the Williams team in 1982.

The following years, however, proved difficult for Keke, who struggled with an uncompetitive Williams chassis and a strong but problematic Honda turbo engine.
Despite these problems, he won both the 1984 Dallas Grand Prix and the 1985 Detroit Grand Prix. His fifth and last Grand Prix victory came in the 1985 Australian Grand Prix.
Keke joined the McLaren squad in 1986, however, the car was underpowered in comparison to its competitors, and his teammate Alain Prost surpassed him. Following that season, he chose to retire from Formula One. He dominated his final race, the 1986 Australian Grand Prix, but retired early due to a rear tyre issue.
After retiring from Formula One, Keke returned to endurance racing, competing in events like the Spa 24 Hours and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He also competed in the German Touring Car Championship (DTM) and later formed his racing squad, Squad Rosberg.
In addition to his racing career, Keke became a manager and helped Finnish drivers such as JJ Lehto and Mika Hรคkkinen. He also managed his son, Nico Rosberg, who won the 2016 Formula One World Championship.
