Josef Bugl was a German scientist and politician ( CDU ) who was born on December 24 , 1932, in Weiden in the Upper Palatinate. Between 1976 and 1980, Josef Bugl was a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg was a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg and also served as a member of the German Bundestag from 1980 to 1987.
Concerning education, Josef Bugl studied at the University of Innsbruck and read chemistry, physics and mineralogy. He worked for the European Atomic Energy Community and this was between 1960 and 1965. He worked as a visiting scientist at the Ohio State University in the USA.
Later, he became the head of the institute at the European Nuclear Research Center in Petten. Josef Bugl also became an authorized signatory of the Swiss electronics group Brown, Boveri & Cie (BBC) in Mannheim in 1972.
Later in 1976, Josef Bugl got elected to the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg for the CDU. He was the representative for Mannheim I constituency until 1980 and also served as the education policy spokesman for the CDU state parliamentary group.
He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1980 to 1987 and served as member of the board of the CDU parliamentary group as well as chairman of the inquiry commission “Technology Impact Assessment”.
Josef Bugl Cause of Death
Josef Bugl died on September 20, 2023. He was 90 years old at the time of his death. The cause of his death is unknown. He lived with his wife, Rosmarie Wildenmann in Mannheim.
They had two children; Dorothée who was married to the medical director for the Mannheim Theresien Hospital and the St. Hedwig-Klinik GmbH , Markus Haas and Björn-Christoph, who is a journalist for Bayerischer Rundfunk.
Professorship
Josef Bugl became a a professor of research, technology and innovation management at the Chemnitz University of Technology in 1990. He was also a co-founder of the Academy for Technology Assessment in Stuttgart. It must be noted that in 1996,
Josef Bugl became a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts. He was the Head of “Advanced Systems of Sustainability” at the Technical University of Munich.
Other Endeavors
He served as a volunteer and chairman of the Mannheim–Rhein-Neckar Lions Club.
Josef Bugl was also the spokesman for the board of trustees of the museum association of the State Museum of Technology and Work. He acted as the chairman of the Mannheim CDU district association from 1976 to 1987 and later became the honorary chairman. He received the Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1980.
