Jack Trevor’s real name is Anthony Cedric Sebastian Steane and he was a British film actor of the silent and early sound era. Jack Trevor was born on December 14, 1893, but died on December 19, 1976. It must be noted that he made appearances in 67 films between 1922 and 1943.
Due to the accusation that he had appeared in multiple propaganda films of the Nazi regime, Jack Trevor was convicted by the Central Criminal Court of Collaboration. Under the excuse that he worked under duress, his sentence was overturned.
He had his education at New College, Oxford. He became a member of the British Army and he worked at the Manchester Regiment. He served as an acting Second Lieutenant in 1915 when he was posted to Gallipoli. Unfortunately, he got injured in 1916.
He was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment at Wormwood Scrubs for obtaining jewelry by fraud. This was apparently due to the fact that he failed to return to France in June 1917 after his sick leave. Jack Trevor got married to Alma. Alma was an Austrian who was said to be an illegitimate daughter of Crown Prince Rudolph. Alma unfortunately committed suicide. Jack Trevor remarried and settled in Oberammergau with his two sons.
He was arrested in September 1939 by the Gestapo. The Propaganda Minister, Joseph Goebbels forced Jack Trevor to record radio broadcasts in English for the regime. Threats against him and his family forced him to do it.
