Ileana Sararoiu was a known Romanian singer. She was born on September 25, 1936, and she was into traditional and popular folk music.
As a matter of fact, Ileana Sararoiu is one of the most important Romanian female folk singers and some of her great hits are Doi voinici din Valea Mare” (Two Handsome Lads from the Valea Mare) and “Unde e Târgoviștea” (Where is Târgoviște?).
Doi voinici din Valea Mare” (Two Handsome Lads from the Valea Mare) talks about two people who meet two sisters in the course of hunting and decide to marry them.
The second song tells the story of a sad old mother who waits for her son in a train station. She does not see anybody come except a girl whom she has never seen before; the girl turns out to be the wife of her son.
Ileana Sararoiu’s Death
Ileana Sararoiu died in 1979. At the time of her death, she was 42 years old. She was reported to have died as a result of aneurysm.
An aneurysm is an abnormal swelling or bulge in the wall of a blood vessel, such as an artery.
Aneurysms can occur anywhere throughout the circulatory system, but most commonly develop along the aorta (the body’s main artery that runs the length of the trunk) and in blood vessels of the brain.
Ileana Sararoiu collapsed while singing at a wedding reception and died.
