Georg Hoffmann was a German swimmer who lived between 1880 and 1947. As a swimmer, Georg Hoffmann’s area of expertise was with the freestyle, backstroke as well as the breaststroke. He was also a diver. It must be known that Georg Hoffmann represented Germany at the 1904 Summer Olympics. He also competed at the 1906 Intercalated Games.
With respect to the 1904 Summer Olympics, he competed in the 100-yard backstroke. Only six swimmers competed in this event and Georg Hoffmann finished in the second position to win the silver medal.
Georg Hoffmann also competed in the 440-yard breaststroke but did not do well. He finished in the last position. Georg Hoffmann’s presence was felt in the platform diving event which was seen to be controversial. He finished the event and took the second position.
It must be noted that at the 1906 Olympics, Georg Hoffmann again finished in the second position when he took part in the platform diving event. He however did not do so well when he competed in the 100-meter freestyle.
