Detlev Grabs can be said to be a German researcher in anatomy and cell biology. Detlev Grabs was born on October 29, 1960, and apart from the fact that he is a German researcher in anatomy and cell biology, he is also a former East German swimmer.
It must be noted that he participated in the 1980 Summer Olympics. He competed in the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay and won the silver medal. Detlev Grabs however could not make it to the finals of the 200 m and 400 m freestyle events. Detlev Grabs was a member of the East German 4 × 200 m freestyle relay team that placed third at the 1977 European Aquatics Championships.
Detlev Grabs enrolled at the Humboldt University in Berlin and studied human medicine from 1984 to 1990. He is said to have defended his PhD in 1990. Until 1997, Detlev Grabs served as the post-doc at the Institute of Anatomy, Berlin (1990–1997); University of Ulm, Germany (1992); and Yale University, United States (1994–1996).
In 1999, he received his habilitation degree in anatomy and cell biology from the University of Fribourg in Switzerland. He also worked at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland from 1997 to 2007.
Later in 2007, Detlev Grabs was also appointed as a full professor of anatomy at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières in Canada
