Don January Cause Of Death & Obituary

Don January is an American who plays golf as his professional career. He is a proud member of the Sunset High School Hall of Fame. Don January was born on November 20, 1929, and he is well-known for his exploit in winning the 1967 PGA Championship.

Don January was born in Plainview, Texas in the United States of America and with regards to education, he attended Sunset High School in Dallas and successfully graduated. It must be noted that he took keen interest in golf and was even a member of North Texas State golf team.

The North Texas State golf team was able to win four straight NCAA Division 1 titles between 1949 and 1952. Don January played a key role in the success story of the North Texas State golf team.

While in college, Don January offered his services in teaching a beginner’s golf class and that was when he met his wife Patricia “Pat” Rushing. Don January and Patricia “Pat” Rushing graduated from college in 1953 and they lived in San Antonio.

Even though Don January’s win at the 1967 PGA Championship is very notable, it must be noted that he has won a total of 10 PGA Tour titles.

Earlier in the 1961 PGA Championship, he lost the playoff to Jerry Barber. In 1976, he won the Vardon Trophy for the lowest scoring average when he was 47 years. Don January was a member of the US Ryder Cup team in 1965 and 1977 and he is the force behind a change to the Rules of Golf.

January died at his home in Dallas on May 7, 2023, at the age of 93.

The cause of his death is not yet known.

No plans for his burial and funeral have been made known as of now.
