Bruno Astorre, born on March 11, 1963, in Rome, was an Italian politician who served as a senator from 2013 until his untimely death on March 3, 2023. Additionally, he held the position of Lazio regional secretary of the PD (Partito Democratico, Democratic Party) from 2018 to 2023.

Astorre, originally from Rome, spent his life in Frascati. After completing his studies with distinction, earning a degree in economics and commerce from LUISS Guido Carli in Rome, he embarked on a career that combined his expertise in economics and his dedication to public service. Career
Astorre’s political journey began with his involvement in Christian Democracy. He transitioned to the Italian People’s Party and made his mark as a municipal councilor in Colonna in 1990.
Subsequently, he became the first elected to the Provincial Council of Rome in 1995.
His dedication to regional politics grew, and in 2003, Astorre became a regional councilor of Lazio with La Margherita. He continued to serve the region, being re-elected in 2005 on the list of L’Ulivo. During Pietro Marrazzo’s presidency, he assumed the role of councilor for Public Works and Housing.
Astorre’s political career reached new heights when he became President of the Lazio Regional Council on September 16, 2009. His leadership in this position demonstrated his commitment to public service and regional development.
His involvement with the Democratic Party (PD) solidified in subsequent years. In the 2010 regional elections, he ran with the PD, becoming the first of those elected. Following this, he was elected vice president of the Lazio Regional Council in 2010.
In the aftermath of regional controversies and the resignation of President Renata Polverini, Astorre entered the political primaries in December 2012, securing a place on the regional list for the Senate of the Republic. He successfully ran for the Senate in the 2013 political elections and was actively involved in various capacities within the Democratic Party.
Bruno Astorre continued his political journey, winning re-election in 2018 and joining the VIII Public Works and Communications Commission. On December 1, 2018, he was elected Lazio regional secretary of the PD, further contributing to the party’s organizational leadership.
Even in the early political elections of September 25, 2022, Astorre remained committed to public service. He was nominated by the PD for the Senate and was elected as the leader of the multi-member constituency Lazio 02.
