Anton von Aretin is a German politician who represented the Bavaria Party and the Christian Social Union of Bavaria (CSU). He was born on August 15, 1918, in Munich. In addition, he served on the Bavarian Landtag.
Von Aretin was the eldest son of Erwein Freiherr von Aretin and Countess Maria Anna von Belcredi, both of whom came from noble families.
He had three brothers: Sebastian, Karl Otmar, and Richard Freiherr von Aretin. Von Aretin’s forefathers included Johann Christoph Freiherr von Aretin, a well-known Bavarian historian and librarian.
After finishing his secondary education exams at the Wilhelmsgymnasium in Munich, von Aretin studied law in Munich and Prague. However, as a result of World War II, he was forced into exile in Iceland from 1941 to 1946.
In 1946, von Aretin joined the Christian Social Union of Bavaria (CSU). However, his dissatisfaction with the CSU’s lack of Bavaria-centric ideas prompted him and other members to resign and create the Bavaria Party in 1947.
Within the same year, von Aretin was appointed regional chairman of the Bavaria Party in Niederbayern.
Von Aretin represented the Bayern Party in the German Parliament from 1949 to 1953. He later became a member of the Bavarian Landtag, representing Vilshofen a der Donau.
During this time, he was a key member of the Fรถderalistische Union, which was formed by the Bayern Party and the Centre Party (Germany).
Von Aretin began working for the Aldersbach Brewery in 1954 and is thought to have contributed to the company’s success. He worked at the brewery until his tragic death in 1981. In 1969, he married Johanna Colloredo-Mansfeld, an Austrian citizen.
