The mother of Anna Unterberger worked in theatre with disabled people. When Anna Unterberger got to High School, she decided to pursue acting as a career and as such, right after completing high school, she did some odd jobs so she could raise money to finance her early drama and vocal training.
Between 2005 and 2009, Anna Unterberger schooled at the Vienna Conservatory and in the early stages of her acting career, she acted at the State Theater in Copenhagen, at the Summer Festival in Kottingbrunn, and in the Drachengasse theater in Vienna.
She made appearances in several film productions in 2008. She was an ensemble member at the Salzburger Landestheater in 2009 and 2010.
In 2009 at the Salzburger Landestheater, she played a role in Nathan the Wise, Faust, The Evil Spirit Lumpacivagabundus as well as The Measure of All Things.
In 2007, Anna Unterberger played the role of Helena in the Pirate and the Daughter and in Friedrich Dürrenmatt’s The Visit during the Summer Festival in Kottingbrunn. She also acted in Aristophanes Lysistrata while a student at the Copenhagen drama school.
In 2008, Anna Unterberger played a role in Urs Odermatt’s film adaptation of George Tabori’s Mein Kampf during her training period at the Conservatory of Vienna. Anna Unterberger won an award in the Fidelio talent competition in the category of interpretation in 2008.
She was featured in Oskar Roehler’s film Jud Süss – Film ohne Gewissen in 2010 and in 2012, she played a role in the German television series The Old Fox.
Other productions she has been involved with include Measuring the World, and Snow White Must Die. Anna Unterberger was in April 2012, a jury member at the Bolzano Film Festival.
