Andreas Wellinger can be described as a German ski jumper. He was born on August 28 , 1995, in Traunstein and he is said to compete for SC Ruhpolding. It must be noted that Andreas Wellinger has been a member of the Zoll ski team since 2015 and he won the gold medal on the normal hill at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.
Andreas Wellinger was born to Hermann Wellinger and Claudia Hummel. Hermann Wellinger was an alpine skier who competed in the World Cup and Claudia Hummel is said to have also competed in ski racing and serves as a ski jumping judge.
Andreas Wellinger has two older sisters. Andreas Wellinger is said to have learned ski jumping at SC Ruhpolding and at age 12, he moved from the secondary school in Traunstein to the ski boarding school in Berchtesgaden. It must be noted that since the beginning of the 2012/13 season, Andreas Wellinger has always taken part in the World Cup.
On November 24, 2012, during his first World Cup competition, he placed fifth. Later on, he had a victory with the German team when jumping on the Rukatunturi ski jump in Kuusamo in the team competition and as a matter of fact, he had the highest score of all jumpers.
He placed third on the normal hill at the RusSki Gorki ski jumping complex and later on, he also placed second on the Gross-Titlis-Schanze in Engelberg; a feat he repeated in the Vogtland Arena in Klingenthal the following season. Andreas Wellinger won a bronze medal with the German team at the 2013 Junior World Championships in Liberec, Czech Republic.
He was at the 2016 German Championships in Oberhof, the Nordic World SkiReference: Championships in Lahti, the 2017/18 Four Hills Tournament, 2018 Winter Olympics, among other competitions.
Andreas Wellinger got injured in June 2019; he suffered a complex knee injury in his right knee with a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament as well as meniscus and cartilage damage. Again, he broke his collarbone at the end of March 2020.
