Andrea Lo Cicero was born on May 7, 1976, and he is known to be an Italian rugby union footballer. Andrea Lo Cicero was actively involved in the game of rugby but retired in 2013.
He was born in Catania, Sicily and his professional career started in the town of his birth with Amatori Catania. With time, Andrea Lo Cicero had to relocate to Bologna and then to Rugby Rovigo.
It must be noted that Andrea Lo Cicero won his first Italian Championship in 2000 with Rugby Roma. He also played for a season with the French team Stade Toulousain. Andrea Lo Cicero played for L’Aquila as well and he brought his career to an end while playing for Racing Métro 92 in France’s Top 14.
Even though he was selected to be part of Italy’s squad for the 1999 Rugby World Cup, he did not get the chance to play. He only had the chance to have his international debut the following year. For his international debut Andrea Lo Cicero represented Italy in a match against England in 2000.
His task was to fill the gap left by the Azzurri prop and captain Massimo Cuttitta. Andrea Lo Cicero was named in the BBC’s dream XV at the 2004 Six Nations Championship.
He was also part of the Barbarians squad that were to play against New Zealand. It is important to note that he was the only European player who was called. He represented the Barbarians for their matches against Scotland and England.
Andrea Lo Cicero played his 50th match in the 2007 Six Nations Championship against Scotland at Murrayfield. Italy recorded a victory of 37–17 over Scotland.
He also had his 100th cup in the 2013 Six Nations tournament against Scotland and his 101st cup was against Wales and he equalled Alessandro Troncon’s record as Italy’s most-capped player.
He broke the record when he played against England but he announced his retirement after playing his last against Ireland at the 2013 Six Nations
