German diplomat Achim Tröster was born in Dortmund on January 31, 1959. He took up the role in August 2021 and is presently the Federal Republic of Germany’s ambassador to Bangladesh. Tröster was the ambassador to Benin from 2017 until this point.
Tröster graduated from a Dortmund high school with his general higher education entry certification.
In 1977, he enlisted as a temporary soldier in the German Armed Forces.
He began studying history and French in 1979 at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn. After completing his studies in 1987, he was qualified to teach at secondary levels I and II after passing the First State Examination.
Following his tenure from 1987 to 1990 as a research assistant at the Association for the Study of Modern History, Tröster started his higher foreign service preparatory service in 1990.
After thereafter, he had several roles, including the embassy in Spain and the role of Permanent Representative of the Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Throughout Tröster’s career, he has also held positions as the Federal Foreign Office’s deputy head of division, permanent representative of the ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and consultant.
He has also held positions at the Permanent Mission of Germany to the United Nations in Geneva and as Head of Protocol in the State Chancellery of Rhineland-Palatinate.
Tröster has one child and is married. His vast experience and proficiency in diplomacy make him an invaluable asset in his present position as Germany’s ambassador to Bangladesh.
