Henry Hübchen, born on February 20, 1947, in Berlin, is a highly acclaimed German actor known for his incredible performances in both film and television.
His performance in the 2004 film “Go for Zucker” earned him a Lola, Germany’s equivalent of an Oscar, as well as widespread critical acclaim both at home and abroad.
Hübchen, who grew up in East Berlin under the authority of East Germany, developed an early interest in the arts. Despite first studying physics, he soon realised that his true calling lay in the world of performing arts. He studied drama in Berlin and Magdeburg, polishing his art and expanding his acting abilities.
Prior to his debut in film, Hübchen was known for his role in the long-running German television series “Polizeiruf 110,” which cemented his reputation as a gifted actor.
Hübchen was also a musician, having composed songs for the East German rock band City, according to a feature by the German public broadcaster Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk.
In addition to his musical endeavours, he had a great athletic career, winning the East German windsurfing championship twice in 1980 and 1981.
