Giovanni Zarrella, born on March 4, 1978, in Hechingen, is an Italian musician and television presenter who has gained fame primarily in Germany.

Growing up in a multilingual German-Italian environment, Zarrella had an early love of music. He began taking piano and organ lessons as a child and later took singing classes when he was 15 years old.

Zarrella briefly lived in Italy with his family in the early 1990s. He created his first band, Brotherhood, when he was 16 years old. He pursued his technical college admission qualification after finishing secondary school and had an apprenticeship as an IT systems clerk. He then began working in sales at Hugo Boss.

Zarrella’s debut in the music industry came in 2001 when he competed in a casting for the show Popstars in Stuttgart alongside around 1,700 other applicants.

He won the competition after enthralling the jury with his performance of “How Deep Is Your Love” by the Bee Gees. Zarrella was picked as a member of the band Bro’Sis by jury members Detlef Soost and Gerhard Christensen in November 2001 after undergoing intensive training and many rounds of auditions. Until 2006, Bro’Sis was a successful band, with many chart-topping singles and a strong fan following.

In addition to his singing career, Zarrella has a thriving television career. He appeared on the TV show “Teufels Küche” in 2005, but had to leave early owing to an injury.

He co-starred in the documentary soap “Just Married!” with his wife, Jana Ina, giving viewers a glimpse into their daily lives. Zarrella proceeded to host shows such as “Bravo Sport TV” and “screen-shot – the eSport Bundesliga,” demonstrating his versatility as a host.

Zarrella launched a solo music career in 2013, forming the swing band Vintage Vegas with previous Popstars finalists Inan Lima and Tom Marks. The ensemble rose to prominence for its unique twist on pop tunes in a swing manner. Zarrella’s musical talent grew, and in 2019, he earned a record deal with 221 Music.

He had several big songs, including “Santa Maria” and “Il più buono,” which helped pave the way for his Italian-language breakthrough album “La vita è bella.” His duet “Senza te” with Pietro Lombardi charted in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, confirming Zarrella’s standing as a solo artist.

Offstage, Zarrella has a strong interest in football. After returning to Germany, he joined the youth ranks of AS Roma before joining the young ranks of VfB Stuttgart.
