Bert Papenfuß Cause of Death: Full Details

Bert Papenfuß was a German poet who was born on January 11, 1956. He was trained as an electrician and sound and lighting technician. After working in the East German army as a construction soldier, he switched to theater.

He first worked in Schwerin and later in 1976, he worked in Berlin. He was quite active in the era of the literature scene of Prenzlauer Berg that developed in the late 1970s. Bert Papenfuß has also worked as a freelance writer since 1980 and over the years, he has worked with numerous artists and musicians which include  A. R. Penck and Tarwater.

Between 1999 and 2009, Bert Papenfuß was co-owner of the Kaffee Burger Club (famous for Wladimir Kaminer’s Russendisko). He coordinated the cultural program Salon Brückenkopf and also served as co-editor of the anarchistic magazine Gegner and the cultural magazine Zonic.

Bert Papenfuß was co-owner of the culture café Rumbalotte Contiua which started operating on September 17, 2010.

Bert Papenfuß died on August 26, 2023. He was 67 years old at the time of his death. He died of cancer.

Awards

Awards received by Bert Papenfuß include the 1988 N.-C.-Caser-Prize, 1991 F.-C.-Weiskopf-Prize, 1996 Town Writer of Rheinsberg , 1998 Erich Fried Prize and 2008 Eugen Viehof Honorary Gift from the German Schiller Foundation.
