Wolfgang Kremer can be described as a German swimmer who was born on October 29, 1945. He was born in Burg and he was a member of SV Essen 06 between 1960 and 1971.
In his active days as a swimmer, he participated in a number of German championships and he is said to have nine German championship titles to his credit. He was the German champion with respect to the 100-meter freestyle in 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969 and 1970.
He was also the champion of the 25-meter track in 1967. Wolfgang Kremer also won in the 200-meter freestyle in 1966 and 1968. Wolfgang Kremer was the international German champion(25-meter track) in the 100-meter freestyle in 1969.
Wolfgang Kremer finished in the 23rd position when he competed in the 400-meter freestyle at the 1964 Olympic Games. At the 1968 Olympic Games, he placed 9th in the 100-meter freestyle and finished in the 13th position in the 200-meter freestyle.
He also competed in the 4×100 meter freestyle relay, 4×200 meter freestyle relay as well as the 4×100 meter medley relay. For all these three relays, Wolfgang Kremer finished in the sixth position.
He was able to set a world record in 1965 in London and this was in respect of the 4×220 yards freestyle relay. Wolfgang Kremer also set the German record for 100-meter freestyle in 1967 in Essen. He recorded a time of 0:52.3 minutes.
