Renzo Rosso is well-known as the inventor of the prominent apparel brand Diesel as well as the president of OTB Group, the parent company of various fashion labels such as Maison Margiela, Marni, Viktor & Rolf, and Jil Sander. Forbes estimated Rosso’s net worth to be around US$3.6 billion in 2022.
Rosso began his commercial career in the 1970s when he dropped out of the University of Venice to work as a production manager at Moltex, a local apparel company.
Adriano Goldschmied, who became his mentor and business partner, met him there. In 1977, Rosso wanted to start his own firm and persuaded Goldschmied to form a new company with him, which led to the formation of Diesel.
