Helge Fuhst waas born on March 2, 1984 . He is a German journalist, television presenter and media manager. He has been the second editor-in-chief of ARD-aktuell, the ARD joint editorial team for Tagesschau and Tagesthemen since October 2019.
Between January 2018 and September 2019, Helge Fuhst was the ARD program manager for Phoenix and moderator of the political discussion programs Unter den Linden and Der Internationale Frühschoppen. Helge Fuhst grew up in Hanover and Cuxhaven and with respect to education, he completed and graduated from the Amandus-Abendroth-Gymnasium in Cuxhaven.
He furthered his education and earned a Master’s degree in 2020. He had a master’s degree from the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University of Hanover, and majored in political science and history. Helge Fuhst also received his Dr. rer. Phil. doctorate in 2014 and his dissertation was on the first term of US President Barack Obama.
He was the chairman of the Junge Union in Cuxhaven and a member of the CDU between 2004 and 2007. He left CDU after he started working as a Journalist.
It must be noted that between 2008 and 2009, Helge Fuhst was a producer in the ARD studio in Washington, DC but had done six months on NBC Nightly News in Washington. He had his journalistic traineeship at NDR and worked as a television writer at the NDR state radio station.
He also worked at the ARD Tagesthemen in Hamburg from 2012 to 2013.
Helge Fuhst became the personal advisor of WDR’s new director Tom Buhrow in 2013. He became deputy director and later from 2016, he was one in charge of the central tasks and program management department at Phoenix, the event and documentary channel of ARD and ZDF.
He was the moderator of the news program Phoenix der Tag and special programs from 206 to 2017. He was elected s the new program manager of Phoenix following Tom Buhrow’s suggestion on June 26, 2017.
