Who Is Adolfo Urso?
Adolfo Urso, born on 12 July 1957, is an Italian politician and journalist. He comes from a Sicilian background and completed his studies in Acireale and Catania before graduating in sociology from the “La Sapienza” University of Rome.
Urso started out as a journalist for the MSI’s newspaper, Secolo d’Italia. From 1991 to 1992, he worked as the Deputy Director of the newspaper Roma.
In 1993, he was appointed Editor-in-Chief of L’Italia settimanale, and in 1994, he was appointed Director of the magazine Charta Minuta, a post he still maintains today.
Urso’s political career began in 1994 when he was elected Deputy, a position he held until 2008. He began his political career with the National Alliance and then joined The People of Freedom.
Urso was named Undersecretary and later Deputy Minister of Economic Development in the fourth Berlusconi government. In 2010, he opted to join Gianfranco Fini’s new Future and Freedom party.
Urso resigned from his post in the government, along with other party officials, in response to Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s unwillingness to create a new government open to the Union of the Centre, as Fini had requested.
Urso formed the FareItalia Association on April 19, 2011, with the goal of promoting and supporting the principles of Italian culture and identity. Later that year, on July 9, he and Andrea Ronchi and Giuseppe Scalia left Future and Freedom.
Urso joined Brothers of Italy, a party run by Giorgia Meloni, in 2015 and was elected senator on its lists in 2018. As a senator, he is committed to promoting and defending Italian values and culture.
