Tim Lobinger left an indelible mark on the world of pole vaulting before his untimely passing on February 16, 2023, in Munich. Renowned for his exceptional achievements in pole vaulting, Lobinger’s career was defined by perseverance, triumphs, and an enduring commitment to excellence.

Tim Lobinger was born on September 3, 1972, in Rheinbach, Germany. Tim Lobinger became one of the top pole vaulters in Germany and had a big influence starting in the late 1990s. His best results came in 1997 and 1999 when he set a record by becoming the first German to clear six meters outdoors at the ASV Sports Festival in Cologne. This demonstrated his talent.

Although Lobinger achieved great success outside, his true brilliance was indoors. He won the European and World Championship championships at Valencia, Vienna, and Birmingham in 1998, 2002, and 2003, respectively. To his already impressive collection of medals, he won a bronze in the 2006 Moscow World Championships.

Lobinger had difficulties at the Olympics despite his successes on the world stage. His finishes in 1996 (Atlanta), 2000 (Sydney), and 2004 (Athens) were adequate but not spectacular. He failed to meet the qualifying in Beijing in 2008. His exceptional height of 5.76 meters in the pole vault in the 1999 Leverkusen Decathlon, however, continues to be proof of his adaptability and agility.

Tim Lobinger moved into a variety of professions in the athletic industry after retiring from competitive athletics. He started working as a fitness trainer for football player Aljaksandr Hleb in 2011. When he joined RB Leipzig’s U-23 squad as an athletic trainer for the 2012–13 campaign, he expanded his knowledge to include soccer.

Lobinger maintained his dedication to physical fitness by operating “Believe In Your Training” (BIYT), a firm that provides personal training services to elite sportsmen, such as Joshua Kimmich.

Suddenly, Tim passed away on March 3, 2017, at the age of 50. He was diagnosed with multiple myeloma.
