Corts’ incredible performance of 10.5 seconds in the 100 meters in 1925 created a new European record, demonstrating his quickness and agility. He matched the world record three years later, in 1928, with a time of 10.4 seconds, solidifying his place as a global sprinting superstar.

Additionally, Corts played a pivotal role in the German 4 × 100 m relay team’s historic achievement, contributing to the setting of a world record with a lightning-fast time of 40.8 seconds in 1928, a feat that showcased Germany’s sprinting prowess to the world.

Following his illustrious athletic career, Corts retired from competitive athletics in 1930, transitioning to a new chapter of his life. He embarked on a journey of professional growth and personal fulfillment, pursuing studies in Helsinki for two years before eventually assuming control of his father’s knife factory, Josua Corts, in his hometown of Remscheid.

Despite his successes in athletics and endeavors in the business world, Corts grappled with personal demons and challenges. Tragically, at the age of 69, he succumbed to the depths of despair and took his own life.
