Paolo Banchero was born on November 12, 2002, and he is an American professional basketball player. Paolo Banchero plays for the Orlando Magic of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
It must be noted that he played for the Duke Blue Devils when he was in college. It is interesting to note that Paolo Banchero was named the Rookie of the Year of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in 2022 and named the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2023.
Paolo Banchero was 3 feet tall when he was only 15 months old and as a kid, he was actively involved in basketball and American football and took part in track.
While he was still a child, he played basketball at the Rotary Boys, and Girls Club of Seattle and the Ballislife Jr. All-American Camp.
When Paolo Banchero was in seventh grade, he was initially 6 ft 1 in (1.85 m) in height but his height later increased to 6 ft 5 in (1.96 m).
Paolo Banchero was ranked among the top 50 eighth-graders nationally in both basketball and football. When he was in high school at O’Dea High School in Seattle, he played football as well as basketball.
With respect to football, he was the backup quarterback on the state championship team. With respect to basketball during his high school days, he won some honors; Most Valuable Player, Gatorade Player of the Year and MaxPreps National Junior of the Year.
Paolo Banchero Parents
The parents of Paolo Banchero are Rhonda and Mario. Rhonda played college basketball for Washington.
She was also a third-round selection in the 2000 WNBA draft and played professionally in the American Basketball League.
Rhonda subsequently became a basketball coach at Holy Names Academy in Seattle. On the other hand, Mario played college football for Washington. Rhonda and Mario met while they were students at the University of Washington.
On his father’s side, Paolo Banchero is of Italian descent. On his mother’s side, he is of African-American descent. Paolo Banchero was charged with aiding and abetting DUI after Duke teammate Michael Savarino, grandson of coach Mike Krzyzewski, was arrested on DUI charges.
This was on November 14, 2021. However, the charges were dropped on July 29, 2022.
He attended the inaugural Miami Grand Prix in Miami Gardens on May 8, 2022, where he was mistakenly interviewed by Sky Sports announcer Martin Brundle believing he was Patrick Mahomes.
