Legendary Indian playback singer, Pamela Chopra, wife of the late Bollywood film director Yash Chopra passed on at a hospital in Mumbai on Thursday morning at the age of 74.

Per the statement that was issued by the Chopra family, the body of the late singer has been cremated and is asking for privacy as they mourn their mother, sister, grandmother, and friend.

The statement reads “with heavy hearts, the Chopra family would like to inform that Pamela Chopra, 74, passed away this morning. Her cremation took place at 11 am today in Mumbai. We are grateful for your prayers and the family would like to request for privacy in this moment of deep sadness and reflection.”

Reports available to us indicates that, the late playback singer died of pneumonia and was admitted to the hospital 15 days prior to her death.

According to a News agency PTI report, here is what Dr. Prahlad Prabhudesai told the news team “she passed away today early morning due to pneumonia with ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome). She had been admitted to the hospital for 15 days in the ICU.”
