Who Is Mirja Boes?

Mirja Boes, born on September 13, 1971, in Viersen, Germany, is a multi-talented comedian, actress, and singer.

Möhre, which means “carrot” in German, is also her stage name. Boes is well-known for her comic party music and has a number of singles and spoken comedy tracks to her credit. As part of the ‘Mallorca All-Stars’ group, she has worked with a number of German musicians.

Boes graduated from Dülken Municipal School in 1991. She subsequently went on to study at the University of Düsseldorf and the Leipzig University of Music and Theatre. She joined ‘Compagnia 82’ in 1994, followed by ‘Die Fabulösen Thekenschlampen’ in 1996. With ‘Frizzles,’ she also demonstrated her talent in improvisational theatre.

Under the stage name Möhre, Boes played at Palma de Mallorca’s Upper Bavaria nightclub in 2001. Her music career officially began with the release of her first single.

Her second single, ‘Wir ham doch keine Zeit…’, was released in 2003. Boes was also a member of the Mallorca All-Stars, a band made up of German musicians. During the same year, she also worked as a presenter for RTL II.

From 2002 to 2006, Boes appeared on television frequently with comedians Ralf Schmitz, Mathias Schlung (beginning in 2006), and Markus Majowski. They appeared on the sketch comedy show ‘Die Dreisten Drei’.

After leaving the show in 2006, Boes made guest appearances on other programmes such as ‘TV total’, ‘Elton.tv’, ‘Anke Late Night’, ‘Open Muzzle’, ‘Clueless Genius’, and ‘the Gong Show’.

She also dabbled in film, co-starring in ‘Siegfried’ with Tom Gerhardt and appearing in a comic adaption of ‘Impy’s Island’ in 2005. Boes starred in the RTL series ‘Angie’ from 2006 until 2008.

‘Tomorrow I’ll End!… Probably!’ was Boes’ debut solo performance, which took place during the Cologne Comedy Festival in autumn 2007. In 2008, she co-starred in the film ‘African Race’ with Jan Sosniok. ‘Boese: Unspeakably Embarrassing,’ her debut memoir, was published in 2009 and was later made into an audiobook.

From February to April 2010, Boes embarked on her ‘Ich bin Boes’ sketch comedy tour. The tour, however, was cut short because she became pregnant. On January 3, 2011, she gave birth to a son. ‘I’m growing up next week!’ said Boes as she resumed her tour in the spring of 2011.

Boes starred in the comedy film ‘Der Nächste, bitte!’ in 2015.
