Bryan Guy Adams, a Canadian treasure recognized for his many abilities as a musician, singer, songwriter, record producer, and even photographer, was born in Kingston, Ontario, on November 5, 1959. Having sold between 75 million and potentially more than 100 million records and singles worldwide over the course of a multi-decade career, Adams has cemented his status as one of the all-time best-selling musicians.

Adams’ early exposure to music began at the age of 15 when he stepped into the spotlight as the lead singer of the glam rock band Sweeney Todd, replacing Nick Gilder. By the time he was 20, his eponymous debut album marked the beginning of a remarkable journey in the world of music.

The album “Cuts Like a Knife,” which peaked at number ten and included hits like “Straight From the Heart,” an emotional ballad that became Adams’ first US top-ten hit, and the title track, marked the artist’s breakthrough in 1983. With the 1984 album “Reckless,” which peaked at number one in both the US and Canada, the enthusiasm carried over. The songs “Run to You,” “Summer of ’69,” and the well-known power ballad “Heaven” from this album launched Adams into international fame.

“Into the Fire,” Adams’ 1987 album, continued the record’s success on the charts with singles like “Heat of the Night.” His most famous composition, “When the Night Comes,” was co-written in 1989 and was included in Tom Selleck’s crime thriller “An Innocent Man.”

Adams achieved previously unheard-of heights in the early 1990s with the publication of “(Everything I Do) I Do It for You” in 1991. The song, which is off the album “Waking Up the Neighbours,” topped charts all over the world and remained at the top of the UK charts for an amazing 16 weeks. It is still among the all-time best-selling singles with over 15 million copies sold worldwide. Another huge success from the album, “Can’t Stop This Thing We Started,” was featured on the diamond-certified record in Canada.

In the 2000s, the performer kept up his popularity by releasing several albums, three of which were at number one in Canada and others of which were well-regarded in the UK and Europe. As a result of his accomplishments, he was recognized in 2008 when the Billboard Hot 100 ranked him as the 38th greatest musician of all time.

In recent years, Adams has remained a creative force, signing a deal with Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG) and releasing albums like “So Happy It Hurts” in 2022. Despite facing challenges like the cancellation of tours due to the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant, Adams continues to connect with audiences worldwide through new releases, including the 2022 album “Classic” and its follow-up, “Classic Pt II,” released in July 2022.
