Biography
Maximilian Pilger, born on February 25, 1996, in Bonn. Max’s journey into swimming began at the tender age of three, under the tutelage of his mother, who imparted her knowledge and passion for swimming to her son. Ute Pilger, formerly Ute Nettersheim, garnered several German junior championship titles during her illustrious career, setting a high bar for her son to follow.
Max Pilger established himself on the German swimming scene in 2013 by placing fourth twice in the championships, which were staged in Berlin and Wuppertal, respectively, in big and small pools. The young swimmer’s bright future was set up for success with his initial victories.
Max went on to compete in several swimming competitions around Germany as he refined his abilities and pushed himself farther. He did, however, really make his international debut in 2019 when he competed for Germany at the coveted World Championships in Kwangju, Korea.
At the World Championships, Max Pilger showcased his prowess in the highly competitive 200-meter breaststroke event. Despite facing stiff competition from some of the world’s top swimmers, Max demonstrated his determination and resilience, finishing a commendable 23rd place in the qualifications out of a field of 54 swimmers.
