Marilyn Monroe was an American actress, model and singer. Marilyn Monroe was born on June 11, 1926, and she was widely known for playing the role of comic blonde bombshell characters.
As a matter of fact, she was seen as most of the popular sex symbols of the 1950s as well as the early 1960s. Marilyn Monroe was also considered as an emblem of the era’s sexual revolution and she was a top actress for at least a decade.
She was able to make as much as $200 million from her films before she died in 1962. Interestingly, Marilyn Monroe was ranked the sixth- greatest female screen legend from the Golden Age of Hollywood in 1999.
Marilyn Monroe was born and raised in Los Angeles but it is known that she had most of her childhood days in about 12 homes and an orphanage before she got married.
At the age of 16, she got married to James Dougherty. During World War II, she was working in a factory but as fate would have it, she met a photographer from the First Motion Picture Unit.
She then started a pin-up modeling career. It led her to get some contracts with giants such as 20th Century Fox as well as Columbia Pictures. She had the opportunity to play some minor film roles and she later signed a new contract with Fox in the late 1950.
She played some roles in comedies such as As Young As You Feel, Monkey Business, and in the dramas Don’t Bother to Knock, Clash by Night and then after, became very popular.
There was so much controversy when it was made known that Marilyn Monroe had posed for nude photos even before she became a star and very popular. Instead of the controversy killing her career and image, it rather led to an increase in the interest for her films.
As of 1953, Marilyn Monroe had become one of the most marketable Hollywood stars. She played roles in the film noir Nigara which relied on sex appeal. It must be noted that her nude images were used in the Playboy Magazine.
In 1954, Marilyn Monroe was suspended for refusing a film project. She made a comeback in 1955 when she featured in The Seven Year Itch. She was known to have founded a film production company in 1954 and in 1955, she concentrated and focused on building the film production company.
Marilyn Monroe began studying method acting under the tutelage of Lee Strasberg at the Actors Studio.

Marilyn Monroe’s mother was known as Gladys. However, she did not have any father figure in her life. Marilyn Monroe died on August 4, 1962, from an overdose of barbiturates at her Los Angeles home. Her death was seen as suicide.
