Maria Ratzinger was born in 1921 and she was the oldest of the three Ratzinger siblings. It must be noted that in as much as she wanted to become a teacher, she could not do. It was quite expensive and as such her parents decided to invest in her brothers rather.
She was at Au am Inn, where she learned housekeeping. Maria Ratzinger also worked as a secretary in a law firm in Munich. In the summer of 1959 when her brother, Joseph, became the chair of dogmatics at the University of Bonn, Maria Ratzinger went with him.
Just because Joseph could not type, it was Maria Ratzinger who typed for him and as such she had a typewriter in her room.
Interestingly, Maria Ratzinger was also the cook and maid for her brother.
Apart from typing his manuscripts, she was also his proofreader. Her brother, was a University professor and she laid down her life for him; doing everything for him. In as much as she was not allowed to have the best of education, she was at the beck and call of her brother.
It is also reported that Maria Ratzinger did not ever get married. She lived with Joseph in Bonn, Münster, Tübingen, Pentling, Munich and finally in Rome. Maria Ratzinger was five years older than Joseph Ratzinger. Maria Ratzinger was said to have learned Italian when she moved to Rome with her brother.
Her other brother was Maria Ratzinger. The parents of were Maria Ratzinger were Joseph Ratzinger Snr. And Maria Ratzinger.
Maria Ratzinger Cause of Death
Maria Ratzinger died on October 30, 1991. She was returning from the cemetery where her parents had been buried. Suddenly, she suffered a heart attack and died on All Saints’ Day in a hospital in Regensburg, at the age of 69.
The death of Maria Ratzinger devasted her brothers so much. Joseph Ratzinger was said to have cried bitterly at the funeral.
