Italian showgirl and television personality Maddalena Corvaglia was born in Galatina on January 12, 1980. Originating from Presicce, a town in the southern Salento region, Maddalena’s career has seen her progress from a local beauty queen to a well-known personality on reality and small-screen television.
Early Life and Education
Raised in Presicce, Maddalena’s family consists of her mother Maria Isabella, a special education teacher, her late father Salvatore, who was a lawyer, and her older brother Antonio, also known as Tony. Maddalena ventured into the world of beauty pageants at the age of 17, participating as a reserve contestant in the Miss Italia 1997 competition after winning the title of Miss Wella Umbria.
Maddalena made a big splash in popular television after graduating from Liceo Classico Dante Alighieri in Casarano. She went through an audition process in 1999 to be the blonde showgirl, or velina, on the hit program “Striscia la notizia.” She was chosen to play this coveted position with Elisabetta Canalis on September 27 of the same year, which launched her television career.
Career
After appearing on “Striscia la notizia” till June 8, 2002, Maddalena carried on broadening her professional horizons. She appeared with Miguel Bosé in the reality series “Operazione Trionfo” and was the host of Italia 1’s daily program summary. She has been in several television programs over the years, such as “Mandi e Maddy Candid Camera Club,” co-hosted “La Domenica del Villaggio” with Davide Mengacci, and served as a special correspondent for Alberto Castagna’s “Stranamore” for two seasons.
Maddalena and Elisabetta Canalis co-hosted “Striscia la Notizia” on Canale 5 for a week in 2005, demonstrating the two former Levine’s ongoing relationship.
She co-hosted “Sanremo Lab giovani” in 2006, appeared in the Rai 1 pilot episode “Mister Archimede” in 2005, and worked as a radio host for radio R101. In the summer of 2006, she co-hosted the Miss Muretto pageant in Alassio alongside Max Novaresi.
She started co-hosting the Rai 2 program “Scalo 76” alongside Paola Maugeri and Daniele Bossari in 2008. Maddalena kept expanding her horizons by co-hosting “BravoGrazie” with Franco Neri in January 2008 and joining the chat program “L’Arena” as a regular commentator from 2009 to 2011.
Maddalena won first place in the first “Si può fare!” competition on Rai 1 in May 2014, showcasing her incredible strength in pole dancing and aerial fabric acts.
She relocated to the Agon Channel in November 2014, where she hosted the talent program “My Bodyguard.”
Maddalena collaborated with the Gruppo Norba in the summer of 2015, presenting the concerts for the thirteenth edition of Radionorba Battiti Live. She participated in the seventh season of “Ciao Darwin” in March 2016, representing the “Integratori” category.
